Fund your Alero accounts effortlessly

If you want to send money to your Alero accounts from another bank or credit union, here's what you'll need to do.
Once you've downloaded Alero's digital banking app, log in and go to More > Transfer & Pay > Transfers
Then, choose Add Account to set up transfers to and from another institution.
Make sure you have the other institution's routing number and your account number at hand.
You may be asked to verify your identity with a text or call.
Complete a Penny Test
As a security measure, you cannot transfer funds to or from this account until it has been confirmed.
Confirmation typically requires the penny test (aka penny drop or penny transfer) to verify your bank and ensure the integration between Alero and the other institution is set up securely. We will send two (2) deposit transactions to the external bank account. It may take up to three business days to appear in the transaction history.
After you've initiated the Penny Test, follow these steps to confirm your external account:- Go into the external account and find out the two amounts by looking in your recent transactions in the account.
- Log into Alero's digital banking. You should see a notification that says confirm trial deposits.
- Tap to confirm the account
- Enter the amounts.
- You're all set!

You can send yourself money using Zelle® set up with another financial institution.
To do this:
- Go into Zelle account through your bank or credit union's mobile app.
- Add your new Alero account as a recipient by using the email or phone number associated with your account.
- Then initiate the transfer.
Want to switch your Zelle bank account to Alero?
Get started in Alero's digital banking app by going to More > Transfer & Pay > Bill Pay / Zelle > Send Money with Zelle.

You can use a paycheck or write a check to yourself to easily add money to your account! In Alero's mobile app, choose Deposit below the camera icon to get started.

You can wire yourself larger amounts of money from another financial institution. There are no fees to wire money to your Alero account. Once transferred, the money is usually available instantly.
To wire money to your Alero account, start by going to your other bank or credit union to initiate the transfer.You'll need to provide Alero's information as the "Receiving Institution":Alero Financial | Elgin, IllinoisRouting Number: 271987075Credit to: Your name, member number, and account type (number)Note that wire transfers are typically processed within the same business day if received before 3:30 pm CST. -
Whether or not you live near a Alero branch, you have options! Alero members who aren't near a branch can also visit one of our many credit union partners nationwide to complete many types of account transactions. If you don’t know your member number, a member service representative (MSR) can look it up with your ID. You can also write yourself a check and give it to an MSR to cash for you.
